Split in Jamat-e-Islami Ranks for Political Alliance

January 16, 2012

A Salam o Alykum ,

There is a clear divide among Jamat-e-Islami ranks for their prospective alliance with major political party . ( Alliance with PML-N or with PTI )

Actually there are two groups :

1st group : The Hard Liners ( Karachi-KPK Group )

  1. Led by Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Syed Munawwar Hassan , backed by Karachi based Shura , Siraj-ul-Haq , Senator Prof. Ibrahim & other JI members from KPK. ( Its Karachi-KPK Alliance in JI )
  2. These group members are also anti-establishment and do not have sympathy for Army , ISI when it comes to war on terror , specially operations in Pakistani Territory.
  3. Also they are against ISI involvement in Political Arena.
  4. This group does not want an alliance with PML-N , PPP , PML-Q or anyother political party with whom pakistani people generally and JI specially have suffered.
  5. This group is very reluctant in reviving MMA , ( actually alliance with JUI Fazl-ur-Rehman )
  6. They are in favor of alliance with PTI
  7. They seeks a coalition government of PTI and JI in KPK in next elections. against it they will support PTI in Punjab and PTI will support them in Karachi.
  8. They have seen the fruits of alliance with PML-N in 1991 and also seen their government in 1997.
  9. They know that Nawaz Shareef is famous in backing out of his statements , did it in ARD when only JI , PKMAP(achakzai) and PTI remain firm on their stance of boycotting general elections whereas Nawaz Shareef first boycotted elections but later broke his promise .
  10. Syed Munawwwar Hassan and his like minded in Jamat-e-Islami are trying hard in fact desperately to have some sort of negotiations with Imran Khan on probable Alliance but PTI seems to be a bit “Arrogant” after 30th Oct Jalsa and they are not in mood of any alliance with any political party.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have started contacts to enter into an alliance for joint efforts to deal with the ruling political parties at the centre and in Punjab.
According to well placed sources backdoor contacts between PTI chairman Imran Khan and JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan were underway to settle the terms and conditions and agenda for alliance.
In this regard a meeting of the two parties was held a couple of days earlier. The meeting was attended by key leaders and heads of PTI and JI and important issues including prevailing political, economic situation of the country and international issues were discussed in detail.
Sources said that the two sides agreed on preparation of terms and conditions for PTI-JI alliance.
The foundation of the alliance would be based on the agenda of freedom from the US pressure, defence of national interests, eradication of corruption from the country, implementation of court decisions and reforms in election. Both the parties also agreed to hold meetings in future.
When contacted, Jamat-e-Islami chief Munawar Hassan confirmed the meeting and said that corruption has engulfed Pakistan and nobody is ready to lead the country in the right direction. He said JI and PTI are in the forefront to fight corruption and if they agreed for the alliance, it would be in the larger interests of the country.

2nd group : Pro-Establishment : Likes Doctrine of Necessity ( Punjab Shura )

  1. Led by Ex-Ameer Jamat-e-Islami , Qazi Hussain Ahmed , supported by Punjab based Shura of Jamat-e-Islami ( Fareed Paracha , Liaquat Baloch Hafiz Salman Butt , Prof Khursheed Ahmed ) ,
  2. They are pro-establishment , have a history of IJI when they took money from ISI .
  3. They still like to support Army involvement in Pakistani Politics.
  4. Wants to be in government or as an influencer/pressure group in government , thats why they supported the stance of supporting Gen Zia-ul-Haq , Gen. Pervez Musharraf in LFO etc
  5. They think that PTI is a liberal party and worse than PML-N so their natural alliance is with Nawaz Shareef.
  6. They do not believe that in politics we should be careful about hadith of momin being bitten by snake twice , for them in politics you can always have negotiations.
  7. They like to revive MMA
  8. They are in favor of talks with JUI Fazl-ur-Rehman
  9. They are in favor of alliance with Nawaz Shareef
  10. They do not like PTI , think them as ultra-modern western influenced liberals
  11. They seek a coalition government of MMA in KPK in next election with PML-N , PML-Q included . Against which they will support PML-N in Punjab

What Should be PTI Stance ?

  1. I think this is critical time for PTI , they should not be arrogant and should approach Jamat-e-Islami and stop them aligning themselves with Nawaz Shareef.
  2. If JI decided to support PML-N than surely it will effect PTI in KPK as JI than would be contesting elections against PTI in KPK. Remember in next elections , there would be only two major forces in KPK , one PTI and second Jamat-e-Islami and if they will contest electiosn head to head it will definitely help ANP , PML-N , PML-Q , PPP(sherpao) and JUI (Fazl-ur-rehman)
  3. If Jamat-e-Islami and PTI make an alliance in KPK , it is 100% sure that they can easily form next government without needing any further coalition support.
  4. In Punjab , Jamat-e-Islami will only act as an “spoiler” for PTI in case if they decided to side with PML-N .
  5. PML-N will manage to form an alliance of “religious forces” , they will negotiate with “Difa-e-Pakistan Council” means they will negotiate with JUI , Jamaiat-Ahle-Hadith , SSP , Jamat-ud-dawa , Sheikh rasheed , Aijaz-ul-Haq , and of course with Jamat-e-Islami . this will be a huge alliance and it will be almost impossible for PTI to beat this alliance in Punjab.
  6. PML-N and Jamat-e-Islami will be united in Lahore against PTI , again this will hurt PTI.
  7. PTI and Jamat-e-Islami alliance in Lahore will again surely means an easy victory in lahore for PTI.
  8. PTI alliance will Jamat-e-Islami will weaken that “Difa-e-Pakistan Religious Alliance” and PML-N will not be able to get maximum religious votes
  9. PTI cannot win in Karachi , But Jamat-e-Islami can , PTI can support Jamat-e-Islami in Karachi to contest against MQM , in this manner PTI will not be head to head with MQM thus avoiding any conflict also JI will be in better position against MQM , in fact will be in very good position.
  10. Its about ” isolating your enemy ” , of course PTI should be relying on their strength as well but they should also focus on how to weaken their opposition. , So PTI should be stopping other political players to make alliance with PML-N , specially they should approach Jamat-e-Islami and Difa-e-Pakistan Council ( Religious Alliance) , Leave no options for PML-N . It should be all PML ( N , Q , Z , Like Minded ) VS PTI & Religious Forces

CASHING the slogan of “Islami Falahi Riasat”

After all its very much natural for PTI and Jamat-e-Islami to form this alliance , Both believe on “Islami Falahi-Riasat” and PTI should CASH this slogan in alliance with Jamat-e-Islami and other religious forces. They should say that if you want an “Islamic Falahi Riasat without American Influence” than Support us. 🙂

very well said….totally agree with all points…and i m with Jamat Islami KPK&karachi group….they shouldnt go with PMLN again…but i m not sure with PTI also,,..i think they should do seat adjustment not a national alliance, like in karachi and lahore…and in KPK Jamat is a real force,as in 2002 JUI get 46 seats in MMA and they won only 26,but JI got 26 seats and they won 21…and in 2008 u can see how JUI without JI get beaten by ANP andgot only 5 or 6 seats….so PTI should not fly high, stay on earth and see ”zameeni haqaiq”….they were like a JI best supported party until 30 october, but now foolish comments by their leaders are making this gap more and more….hosh k nakhun lo agar jeetnahai to

Which kid has written all this non-sense, PTI is a pro-Establishment party, if that was the case, JI shouldnt be divided as JI is also pro-Establishment party, in 2007 IK was handed over by Jamiat head to ISI, IK clearly mention that Jamiat was dancing on Establishment tunes, only anti-Establishment party in Pakistan is PML-N, even IK’s darling Haroon Rasheed agrees with that, the person who writes the post should go to his doctors, as its just a piece of day dreaming
